Remove confidential information permanently

Search for names, numbers and phrases, review every occurrence, or draw manual boxes over signatures, photographs and scanned text.

Why this method is safer

Kitvix does not merely cover confidential information. Each affected page is rebuilt as a new flattened page, so the original page objects are discarded rather than hidden.

1

Find or mark information

Search selectable text or draw a box over signatures, photographs, handwriting and scanned content.

2

Check every box

Move or resize each redaction box so it fully covers the information that must be removed.

3

Create a new PDF

Your original PDF remains untouched. Kitvix creates a new file with a new name for you to review before sharing.

Permanent PDF Redactor

Everything is processed in your browser. Your document is not uploaded to Kitvix.

Permanent redaction

Simply placing a black rectangle over confidential information may only hide it visually. The original text or image can sometimes remain searchable, selectable or recoverable underneath.

Kitvix takes a different approach. Every page containing redactions is rebuilt as a completely new flattened page. The original page is discarded rather than modified, so the original text, images, annotations and all other page objects from that page are removed instead of simply being hidden.

This is widely regarded as one of the safest and most reliable approaches to PDF redaction because information can be stored within a page in many different ways that are not always obvious.

Always review the finished PDF before sharing it.

Important points to remember

No automated tool can identify every confidential item. Always inspect the finished PDF carefully, particularly where legal, medical, financial or other sensitive information is involved.
